(Not all truth was given to the apostles while Christ was on earth.)

Romans 10:17 "Faith then cometh by hearing; and hearing by the word of Christ."
(This illustrates the fact that Faith also comes to us by hearing the words of the apostles and their successors.)

Saint Luke 12:5 "But I will shew you whom you shall fear: Fear ye him who, after he hath killed, hath power to cast into hell. Yea, I say to you: Fear him."
(Those who have the power to cast into hell are those who spread heresy.)

Saint Matthew 24:42-44 "Watch ye therefore, because you know not what hour your Lord will come. But this know ye, that, if the goodman of the house knew at what hour the thief would come, he would certainly watch and would not suffer his house to be broken open. Wherefore be you also ready, because at what hour you know not the Son of man will come."

Saint John 19:27 "After that, he saith to the disciple: BEHOLD THY MOTHER. And from that hour, the disciple took her to his own."
